Alton Golf Club expect all members, guests and visitors to maintain a reasonable standard of dress at all times whilst on the course and in the clubhouse.
We pride ourselves as a friendly, open, welcoming forward-thinking club without old school draconian rules. However, we do like to maintain certain standards for the benefit of all and ask that you are always neat and presentable .presentable. Please do not be offended if you are asked on future occasions to wear more appropriate golfing clothing.
The following dress items are considered acceptable on the course:
• Shirts: golf shirts, polo shirts, roll necks or new style crew necks, provided they are worn inside the waistband unless designed to be worn outside the waistband. Collarless plain T-shirts are discouraged but permitted i.e. must not have excessive graphical or bawdy captions.
• Trousers/Shorts: trousers or golf shorts; shorts must be of an appropriate length i.e. around knee height. Skirts and Skorts are acceptable for Ladies .
• Socks: long or short sports socks.
• Shoes: recognised golf footwear (on the course).
The following dress items are considered unacceptable on the course:
• Shirts: Un-tucked shirts, T-shirts with graphical or bawdy captions, rugby/football shirts, blue or black denim; sleeveless shirts and muscle vests. Sleeveless blouses and such garments are acceptable for ladies .
• Trousers/Shorts: track suits, jogging bottoms, shell suits, beach shorts, rugby/football shorts, blue or black denim.
• Socks: no socks.
The following guidance is given for standards of dress in the clubhouse
• You may wear soft spiked golf shoes in the bar area as long as if they are dry and clean.
• Our dress code is smart and casual (no dirty, ripped or work clothing). Jeans and collarless shirts, for instance, are acceptable, as long as they are smart and clean.
• No baseball caps or hats to be worn in the clubhouse. Ladies may wear hats at formal functions.
• The use of mobile phones is permitted, but please be discreet.
